Roof heat proofing services in Lahore:

During the summer, the temperature in Pakistan remains high. The spike in mercury levels causes many problems. When a person spends a hectic day outside doing his job. He comes home in hope of comfort and relaxation. However, the reality is the exact opposite. The house structures and roofs are directly exposed to sunlight, and the construction material absorbs a significant amount of heat. They emit trapped IR radiation at night, which causes the inside of the house to burn like hell. Besides, load shedding is an everyday routine, especially in Lahore. It will be very difficult to deal with this problem if you do not have the proper heatproofing chemicals applied to the rooftop and ventilation system.

The hot severe weather could be a problem for our roofing too. It can cause significant damage to our home or business's roofing system when it is exposed directly to hot burning heat rays. Because When the sun shines on your roof, it heats the roofing material. Certain parts of the construction material can become thin and brittle. As an effect on any brittle parts will result in cracks, such a roof will no longer protect against solar radiation, rain, or debris. Water can also seep into the roof support structures, causing cracks, mold growth, leakage. Also, the sudden temperature change can generate thermal shocks, leads to the weakening of material structural strength.

You and your roof would have the best chance of surviving summer heat and preventing your roof structure from ruination if you take some preventative heat roof proofing steps by hiring an experienced roof heat proofing company.

Our heat proofing methods:

Heat Reflective paints:

 Video

When incoming sunlight is absorbed by the roof and wall surfaces, the surface temperature rises above ambient levels. Heat will conduct thorough roof spaces towards the ceiling and radiate downwards through the rooftop if it cannot be reflective of the sky. This causes a temperature rise in houses, resulting in loss of comfort or higher energy bills, as well as increased greenhouse gas emissions from air-conditioning.

In Pakistan, heat reflective roof paint is a common solution for protecting against high temperatures, particularly during the summer months when the temperature rises to unbearable levels. The actual damage due to the sunlight is reduced to subsequent amounts as a result of this solution, alongside a lot of other financial benefits. Although the chemical solution we're dealing with is an excellent heat-proofing chemical aimed at providing heat reflection solutions to overcome high temperatures problems.

Heat reflective chemicals are used to enhance the insulation properties of buildings in an environmentally friendly manner. Since they can reflect up to 80% of solar radiation, these paints are usually available in light colors.

The heat reflective paint reduces the impact of the "urban heat islands, “effect. After applying the heat reflective chemicals, the usage of air conditioners will be lowered and carbon dioxide emissions will be minimized in a hotter building. In this way, heat reflective paints are the best choice for those who care about the climate and the building's longevity.

Max coal coat:

Our homes' exteriors are subjected to a variety of natural disasters. As a result, it's vital to coat them in a way that allows them to survive even the harshest conditions. Max coal coat paint is an exceptionally good heat-proofing chemical paint that helps to lower roof temperatures.

Max coal coat paint contains ceramic microspheres, they form a delicate coating layer on the surface to which they are applied. The ceramic particles create a reflective shield, which mirrors the heat back into the atmosphere. The radiant barriers roughly raise the R-value of the current roof coating by 50%.

Max coal coat has amazing heat-insulating and heat-reducing properties and it can be used on any kind of roof. It has a variety of Chemically resistant pigments, a versatile epoxy resin binder, and specialized artificial additives are also present, making it last longer and be more resistant to weather and environmental factors.

Its heat-reflective property is intended to improve heat insulation performance. It's a type of thermal paint that prevents excessive solar heat from entering the roof. It is Super Hi-Tech Exterior Resin Products protect your home by stopping the pathogenic spread and excessive heat exposure on the external surface, resulting in highly durable walls. Moreover, their materials are stain-resistant and prevent discoloration. Their external surfactants are the greatest barrier against microbial infections, protecting your and your family's health.

Methods to apply Heat reflective paint (Max coal coat):

Max coal coat is made entirely of chemicals and applied in the same way that we normally do with paintwork. The application over the external end of your roof is the main difference between regular paint and special paintwork. Since the roof is normally facing upwards, the paint application should also be facing upwards for the best results. Following are the simple steps to apply max coal coat paint to your roof:

Cleaning of roof:

First of all, your home's roof must be thoroughly washed and swept. Cleaning the roof is necessary because it makes it easier for people to apply the roof heat-proofing chemical in the first place. If we try to apply max coal coat paint without first cleaning the roof, then it will be incomplete, and a problem will arise as a result. There is no other way to carry out any kind of procedure without thoroughly cleaning the roof.

One-step application:

In Pakistan, there are many different methods for applying heat reflective roof paint. In this process, all we do is spray the solvent on the roofs after it has been cleaned, and then wait for it to cool. Since chemical treatment is a time-consuming operation, we do all we can to ensure that no difficulties occur as a result of the process and that complete surface treatment is carried out to the highest standards possible.

Two-step application:

There is another method to apply heat-reflective chemicals on your rooftop to tackle the challenges of excessive heat. The application of heat reflective roof paint for this second part is known as a two-step procedure, in which an external form of material is used to produce a small coating on the roof. This covering ensures that heat insulation is provided to the greatest degree, as well as a substantial improvement in the strength of the reheat-proofing chemical.

The most critical type of material used in this method is canvas or paper. After the first completion of the first application of heat reflective roof paint, these two materials are used one at a time all over the surface. The key reason for its use is to guarantee that heat insulation is achieved with better results and that the heat-proofing paintwork maintains its normal structure for several years.

Double coating:

People who apply or do not apply canvas or any other extra material over their heat reflective roof paint must understand that heat-proofing chemicals require two coats for a long-lasting effect. This double coating's application is simple and unambiguous. The major reason for this is to ensure that no space is left without sufficient application, as the effectiveness of heat-proofing chemicals can only be guaranteed if they are spread evenly across the roof. Ji

Working:

Solar energy is emitted in two wavelengths: visible and invisible (infrared). Objects found in your home fall somewhere between the middle and the far ends of the range. Heat reflective paint works by inhibiting the natural flow of energy.

Heat reflective max coal coat paint has a high solar reflectance, which reduces the uptake of direct solar power. As a result, it is fair to conclude that its aids in lowering the temperature. The exterior walls of many homes are black. While it is visually appealing but this is not the most energy-efficient color option. Bold colors, absorb more heat. Heat is absorbed less when exterior walls are coated with heat-reflecting paint. As a result, a heat reflective coating can reduce thermal shock even if the walls are black. Heat reflective roof paint can reflect up to half of the infrared radiation. It is not appropriate to re-roof your home to keep it cool. Instead, a heat reflective coating can save your money

Thermopore sheets:

Thermopore insulation is made of pre-expanded polystyrene pieces that are durable and sturdy. These particles are shaped into a block, from which sheets of varying densities, lengths, and sizes are separated.

Therefore insulation sheets have excellent thermal insulation performance due to their super tight cell configuration. Thermopore is one of the most widely used heat proofing methods in Lahore due to its properties such as low weight, hardness, ease of operation, and low price.

Thermopore sheets have several characteristics that make them a common heat-proofing insulation material. When it comes to thermal conduction, it is incredibly poor, blocks the heat to reach the building in the summer, and in winter allows no heat to leave the house. It is widely used in the heat insulation of buildings. Thermopore sheet is a relatively light material that could be used for proper building, wall, and roof insulation. It's mostly used to block solar radiation. It is non-CFC, free of any harmful toxic substances, and non-biodegradable. Because of its excellent properties, it is considered one of the best and liked roof insulation materials.

It's widely used for joint expansion because it doesn't get infected with fungi or bacteria. Most people use Thermopore sheets for newly constructed house insulation because they are both heat and water-resistant. And also it is the easiest form of roof insulation to apply because cutting and drilling of these sheets needs require almost no time. Thermopore sheets are commonly used to shield server rooms. When Thermopore sheets are condensed, they stay compressed because they can withstand pressure, and this consistency makes Thermopore sheets the best heatproofing insulation.

Properties:

  • Incredibly lightweight but extremely strong
  • Poor heat conductivity
  • Very easy to cut, drill and shape
  • Non-bio degradable
  • Free of any kind of toxins.
  • Temperature and water-resistant
  • Highly compressed
  • Withstand any kind of stress
  • Cannot do compose of bacteria and fungi

Lightweight foam concreteinsulation:

Due to increasing industrialization, the development of concentrated infrastructures has resulted in the urban heat island (UHI) phenomenon, which causes the temperature of large cities like Lahore to rise dramatically as compared to nearby cooler rural areas. The key contributor to UHI is the absorption of thermal energy of radiation by infrastructures, which increases the surface temperature at night. As a result, the construction industry has been forced to rely on thermally insulating building materials like lightweight foamed concrete insulation. Heat absorbance is significantly reduced by air voids in the matrix of lightweight heat insulation material. Polypropylene (PP) fibers are also used to overlay the lightweight foamed concrete. These PP fibers not only provide structural strength but also help in roof heat proofing by decreasing thermal conductivity and heat absorbance

Foam concrete is a flexible concert made of cement, sand, or flies ash, water, and foam. Foam concrete is described as a cementitious material containing at least 20% foam that is compressed into the plastic mortar. Foamed concrete's density can range from 300 to 1600 kg/m3. At 28 days, the compressive properties of foam concrete vary from 0.2 to 10N/mm2 or above.

Lightweight Foam concrete is especially among the different types of building insulation materials produced to handle the issue of roof heat proofing because of its unique characteristics such as excellent low density, good high viscosity, and excellent heat insulation properties.

It has been widely used in Pakistan for the past 20 years for roof heat proofing. It is an excellent fire insulator. The increase in its demand is because of its thermal and acoustical properties and they make it the best roof insulator.

Polyurethane foam spray:

Spray insulation with polyurethane foam is a new technique for insulating and sealing structures. Spray insulation is a common way to insulate your home or rooftop because of its high efficiency and ease of installation. The two active components of foam spray; polyol and isocyanate are transported to hoses by the pump. While a sprayer performs high-pressure blending.

The foam is then applied to the insulated surface by the gun. The foam expands many folds in volume within seconds of application, creating a uniform, long-lasting insulation layer with excellent thermal insulation properties.

Roof insulation with polyurethane foam spray has been widely used for many years in Pakistan. It is regarded as one of the most efficient thermal insulation technology available. It significantly reduces air-conditioning costs while maintaining a consistent temperature throughout the year. With the kind of severe weather we have, polyurethane foam spray roof insulation is unquestionably a good long-term investment.

Spray Polyurethane Foam is a single-component polyurethane (PU)-based heat insulation material that can be sprayed on materials using a special application system. Through the application device, the propellant in the can spray the synthetic ingredient onto materials. Because of the moisture in the air, this mixture absorbs and solidifies quickly.

Types:

Open-cell foam spray:

As the name shows open-cell foam spray is made up of a large number of open cells. This type of heat insulation helps in keeping the room at a comfortable temperature because water vapors in the air (due to insufficient ventilation) don't condense on its surface and does not cause dampness.

Open-cell foams are often used for internal thermal insulation in commercial and public buildings because of their heat-proofing properties. For insulation of new buildings, lightweight open-cell foam insulation is recommended. They can also be applied in existing buildings that are being renovated for extra thermal insulation.

Closed cells foam spray:

The density of Polyurethane foam spray varies from 30 to 60 kg/m3 and they contain at least 90% closed cells. It is one of the most efficient heat-insulating materials currently available. The thermal insulation properties are due to the presence of gas bubbles inside the structure of closed-cell foams. This kind of foam spray is suitable for thermal insulation of flat roofs, buildings, foundations, cattle sheds, etc, because of its excellent properties like high density, enclosed cells, low vapors absorption, and high tensile strength.

How it is applied:

Spray Polyurethane Foam is not very difficult. First and foremost, the nozzle is tightly attached to the foam gun's tip for elevated surfaces. It's important to keep the distance between the projectile and the gun. Because any mishap can result in foam leakage during the spraying process. The can has now been shaken a minimum of 20 times. The spraying gun is shielded by turning up the upper lid of the gun. The screw on the back of the gun is loosened, allowing you to change the pressure as required. After that, the substance is applied quickly at a distance of 40-45 cm from the surface. Being too close to the surface or too far away from it may have some drawbacks. Thickness increases as we get closer to the surface. The ideal thickness for a single-layer application is 1.5 cm. The heat insulation values can also be reduced if you apply a thicker application in a single layer. The ideal application would be 1.5 cm thick and comprised of three overlapping layers. When it is applied from a distance of more than 40-45 cm, the thickness of the application is reduced, and therefore the user will be increased.

Advantages:

Easy Installation:

It also takes little time and labor to install and extensive structural changes are not required. With other insulation methods, multiple layers need to be installed.

Long-lasting:

Foam insulation, according to experts, is the most reliable and can last for at least 20 years if designed correctly. Purchasing foam from reputable suppliers means that you are using the best quality products that will last for a long time.

Fills every gap: According to most experts, the best part about polyurethane spray foam is that it completely covers your home, filling any gap and crevice. For the best results, this material is made of polyurethane with cleverly engineered chemical structures. It expands to fill in the details, making it useful and effective.

Other properties:

  • Best constructional characteristics
  • Durable insulation
  • Homogenous sheets without any connection or joints
  • Environmentally friendly
  • Does not absorb moisture
  • Safe of bacteria, fungus, and mold attack
  • Long-lasting coating
  • Strengthens and empowers constructional structure
  • Almost zero heat conduction

Use of bitumen membranes coating:

The use of a Modified bitumen membrane as a heating resistor is one of the best ways of roof insulation. It is widely used all around the world for its excellent properties of heat proofing and waterproofing. It will significantly reduce the amount of heat absorbance. These are applied on the plane roofs and made by a combination of asphalt or coal tar. These membranes have 2 to 4 mm thick heatproofing material and are flexible with elongation to cover any small cracks and have strong, chemical & UV resistant properties and are widely used as a thermal insulator.

Properties:

·       Bituminousmembranes have adhesive and heatproofing characteristics. They are also easily installable at a low cost. The heatproofing properties of a bituminous layer rely on the presence of persistent films of bitumen. The heatproofing ability of bitumen is because of its non-wetting nature and non-porous characteristics. Absorption of heat through bituminous is very little and non-significant, that’s why it is a very excellent resistor of heat. For the bitumen membrane to acts as an exceptional heat resistor, it must be free of any crack or hole. and also, it should be in good contact with the floor and its coherence depends upon both, the bitumen layer, and the nature of the surface. For this purpose, its thickness should be minimized by dissolving it into a solution. In this liquid state great attachment to most surfaces can be obtained, given that the surface is perfect and dry, however, surfaces, for example, metal and cement require preparing with a cutback. Even after bitumen has been effectively applied, the bond can be diminished or obliterated by the relocation of water to the interface between bitumen and surface.

·       The adhesive and internal strength of the bitumen layer depends on Temperature and stress. Bitumen acts in a viscoelastic way and is affected by an applied strain its deformity will depend on the pace of strain and the temperature at which it is applied. At a higher temperature, it functions as a liquid, and at a lower temperature, it acts like a solid. As it has both properties of both solids and liquid, that’s why its structure and temperature changes depend on the amount of load strain it is experiencing. its thermal insulation properties likewise fluctuate with temperature, being most noteworthy when cold.

·       Loss of attractive properties of bitumen leads to a reduction in its adhesive and stream characteristics and improvement in coefficient of thermal expansion. Bitumen losses its ability to undergo deformation without splitting when it is solidified. The actual mechanism of its hardening is not completely known however it is believed that its main cause is photooxidation, which takes place at a higher rate under solar radiation. Other factors such as changes in its internal structure, water, air pollution. Microorganisms attack also help in the hardening of bitumen.

·       Bitumen's unwanted properties can be refined by the addition of formulated compounds. Various added substances improve attachment properties, making it workable for bitumens to hold fast to a wet surface and even hold their bond when later wetting of the bitumen-strong interface happens. Oxidation induces the change in the internal structure and Antioxidant substances from the chemicals slow the process of hardening. Bitumen with these modifications has economic and technical benefits because of its better productiveness.

Membrane reinforcement:

Reinforcement is applied to provide strength and stability to the bitumen membrane, the strength requires to cover the irregularities on its supporting surface. Many layers of reinforcement are to provide the maximum strength and to avoid the collapse of whole bitumen in case of failure in one film. And due to its low cost, many layers of bitumen could be used. But one strong and sound layer will be more beneficial than many poor layers.

glass fiber mats, cotton and jute fabrics, Asbestos felts. Organic wood fiber and waste rags are widely used as reinforced. Both natural and asbestos felts are made by a paper fabricating measure, which creates an overall fiber orientation in the long component of the sheet and results in a directional variety in their properties. Coherence between the bitumen films and reinforcement is mandatory. The mechanical properties of bitumen-immersed felts are the same as of a non-isotropic material with a viscoelastic character. They have higher rigidity and lower breaking strain.

To achieve productive and long-lasting bituminous heatproof films, the maker should think about the properties and conduct of both bitumen and reinforcement. Its performance also depends on the nature of the surface to which it is applied and the temperature condition of the surrounding environment. The composite layer has certain attractive properties; however, it depends on its internal components. It is long-lasting because of its ability to mirror the energized heat rays from the sun, that is why it is considered an exceptional heat insulator and it is also widely used for heat proofing in houses, industries, etc. around the globe. Its working efficiency is subjected to the method of its installation and the quality of its constructional material.

Styrene Butadiene Styrene (SBS)

SBS roofing systems are bitumen-based systems that have been adjusted with rubber to keep the surface stable across a wider temperature ran. SBS has been in business for a long time and offers many installation options.

SBS can be built year-round, regardless of ambient air temperatures. These rolls are normally reinforced with polyester or fiberglass, making them extremely sturdy but also allowing for customizations to meet individual needs.

Atactic Polypropylene:

PP has a higher temperature softening and is ideal for use in hotter climates. Fundamental chemistry is similar to SBS, but colder temperatures may be more fragile. The bituminous material has been changed using crystalline plastic to remain tight in high-temperature conditions and is ideal for extreme heat and strong wind conditions. The heat resistance means that only two viable methods of installation, cold adhesive, and flash application, are available. The majority of APP systems include reinforced polyester back and reinforced fiberglass, giving the material greater strength. Although APP systems work well in hot climates, they are not recommended for cold climates, and the technological nature of the implementation process means there are fewer skilled contractors available for projects.

Single-ply roofing system:

When it comes to commercial building design, low-sloped roofs are becoming increasingly popular. Low-sloped roofs are less expensive to construct, minimize the overall amount of conditioned air in the house, and provide a convenient place for heating, cooling, and fire suppression equipment. Built-up roofing was typically used to specify a roofing material for low-sloped roofs.

Heat proofing is the primary objective of any roofing project. Mitigating the effects of a heat absorbance roof is both costly and time-consuming. It's valuable to have a historical perspective on standard materials and structures before heading into the world of modern single-ply low-slope roofing options. Though still in use, built-up roofing and similar systems have seen a significant shift in the last 15 years, with the industry moving towards single-ply materials.

To build a heat-proof and durable surface, BUR systems need several layers of roofing material and asphalt. an SBS and APP systems also use various layers, including a base ply and an adhesive layer under the SBS or APP cap ply to ensure proper functioning.

Single-ply roofing materials, on the other hand, maybe directly attached to the certified roofing substrate. This will significantly reduce construction time, manufacturing costs, and make installation much easier. Single-ply materials have gained a lot of traction in the market due to their superior efficiency, cost, and ease of installation as compared to conventional multi-layered systems.

Types:

PVC:

PVC, also known as vinyl, is made up of ethylene and chlorine. Vinyl resin is mixed with biocides, colored pigments, heat coatings, ultraviolet light inhibitors, and plasticizers during the compounding process. PVC is fire-resistant and recyclable, and it uses fewer petrochemicals than other roofing materials.

A single-ply membrane is made up of two layers of PVC material covering a PVC roof. The top layer is less hard and UV-resistant that it is used as a thermal insulator, and it can be pigmented. For durability and strength, the bottom ply is typically grey or black PVC with more plasticizers. PVC is reinforced with polyester or fiberglass to provide improved strength, durability, and dimensional stability, allowing the material to be a long-term, proven roofing solution with many installation choices.

EPDM:

EPDM, or rubber roofing, was developed to provide a system that is usually simpler and faster to build than an asphalt or coal tar BUR. In 1965, two years after EPDM rubber production began, the first EPDM roof membrane was produced. EPDM roofing is usually black and has a similar feel to the rubber used in tire inner tubes. White EPDM became a color choice in the early 1980s, and butyl-based adhesives replaced neoprene-based adhesives. Reinforced EPDM was introduced to the US market a few years later. Seam adhesives were phased out in 1992 and reinforced fastening strips and seam tape took their place.

The thermoset EPDM is produced by chemically crosslinking polymers or molecular chains. EPDM is unique in that it can only be glued to itself during installation with an adhesive. The material can be compacted into sheets and coated with a polyester scrim for increased tear resistance. Extruded sheets have fewer pockmarks and air inclusions than sheets, which is essential to mention.

EPDM is a good choice because it is UV resistant (thanks to the carbon black) and has a high installation quality and durability. It is widely used for heat proofing in Pakistan and around the globe due to its excellent ability of heat resistance.

Because of its properties of reflective solar radiations, it is also a good candidate for roof heat proofing.

Thermoplastic Polyolefin

Polypropylene and ethylene-propylene rubber are polymerized in the polymer production process; the polypropylene improves hardness while the ethylene-propylene rubber improves toughness. TPO roof proofing membranes are made from this polymer and other primary ingredients such as cleaning agents, UV stabilizers, antioxidants, and pigments. A typical TPO membrane consists of a cap and core membrane, with a polyester reinforcing scrim sandwiched between them. The cap is made up of up to 75% TPO polymer, 25-35% fire retardants, and small quantities of pigment and UV stabilizers. The core membrane is similar in composition, but it contains up to 15% recycled TPO and does not require UV protection.

Calendering, spread coating, and extrusion are three methods for producing PVC and TPO thermoplastic roof heatproofing membranes. The most popular method is extrusion, which was derived from and improves calendaring. Extrusion involves heating the formulation before pressing it through an extruder die onto the reinforcing cloth. The sheet is then passed through a series of calendar rolls until the second layer is added in the same manner as the first. The reinforcement is now encased in the polymer layer that connects the top and the center, and it can be shaped into a finished roll fine. PVC membranes are available in two different varieties.

The most popular single-ply roofing materials used in low-slope roof applications today are TPO, PVC, and EPDM. Although each option has advantages and disadvantages, they can both be used to shield the roof and structure from the elements. Recognizing the physical properties of these products, as well as flickering and installation choices, can assist you in making the right decision for roof heat proofing. Furthermore, you should have details that will allow you to select the most reliable alternative for the particular application while still staying within the budget and sustainability goals.

Single-ply roofing systems require flashing, seams, and other modifications to maintain and help their brand effectively. T-joints, lap splicing, tapes, pre-molded components, seam welders, and mechanical fasteners are essential parts that ensure that all parts of the roof heatproofing system are in good working order and that they work together to keep the building insulated.

T-joints:

When three layers of single-ply membrane overlap, it forms what is commonly referred to as a T-joint. Any spaces along the middle layer surface of a T-joint should be avoided because they could allow water to get stuck in the roof system.

T-joint patches are now a standard requirement for all single-ply machine vendors. A patch that extends at least 3 inches beyond the seam edges must be used to secure T-joints. Take the release paper from the EPDM membrane sheet after cleaning and priming it, and lay and press the patch over the joint. Apply pressure with a large roller to ensure stable adhesion. For TPO and PVC membranes, T-joint patches are completely welded.

Lap splicing and tapes:

EPDM lap splicing has greatly improved. Splice cleaning, lap cement, and lap caulk were the three measures used to seam laps with a sealed power of 3-5 pounds per inch. The butyl tapes used now have a seam strength of 10-12 pounds per inch. This hardens the seams, improves the stability of the laps, and speeds up the construction process. Some companies have pre-taped seams, which improve installation quality and durability. To get the best seam results, remove the factory parting agent from all membranes before lap splicing.

Mechanical fasteners:

Covered steel plates and fasteners, for example, are mechanical fasteners built specifically for single-ply roof heat insulation systems. Mechanical fasteners are available in a variety of load characteristics to meet a project's needs, including high load, extra high load, and large metal duty for wider fabrics. The use of barbs and other fasteners has also changed plate designs.

Mechanical fasteners were invented more than 50 years ago to replace asphalt mopping. Mechanical fasteners took a while to develop into deeper and better fibers with better holds and greater resistance.

Pre-molded Accessories:

Pre-molded attachments are available from producers to help secure single-ply roof heat proofing systems, minimize installation time, and improve flashing quality. Fast to install, flashing accessories cover anything from roof edges to parapets, penetrations to walls and corners. They can be heat applied to PVC or TPO roof membranes. According to the manufacturer's recommendations, they may be mounted with tape and adhesive or other specialty sealants.
